Descriptions
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are information systems that are based on spatial data and represent objects on earth. In GIS itself information technology is a device that helps in storing data, processing data, analyzing data, managing data, and presenting the information. GIS is a computerized system that helps maintain data about the environment in a geographical field (De Bay, 2002). GIS always has a relationship with the scientific discipline of Geography, the former has a relationship with the discipline relating to what is on the surface of the earth, including planning and regional architecture (Longley, 2001). Data in GIS consists of two components, namely spatial data related to the spatial shape geometry and data attributes that provide information about the spatial shape (Chang, 2002). In this opinion, it can be understood that the content of activities in the GIS field is the integration of various scientific fields based on the designation of the GIS activities carried out. Implementation of the implementation of these activities does not always refer to the inclusion of computers as one element of the information system.
Spatial-based information or data systems are currently one of the most important elements, as they serve as a foundation in implementing and supporting a variety of applications. For example in the fields of environment, development planning, spatial planning, transportation management, irrigation, mineral resources, social and economy, etc. Therefore various organizations and institutions want to get spatial data that is consistent, available, and has good accessibility. Especially about future planning, geographical data is still felt expensive and requires a long time to produce it (Rajabidfard, A. and I.P. Williamson 2000). In recent years many countries have invested in information systems development and development activities. Especially in the use, storage, process, analysis, and dissemination of information.
